Hi! My name is Lauren, I’m 23 years old, I’m from Murfreesboro, TN and I currently live in Pereira, Colombia. In August of 2015, I took a 14 day mission trip and I fell in love with this country… I fell in love with this city and I decided to move here 4 months later to work in full-time missions. I work with people on the streets and I work with women who are working in prostitution.
Praying for Support
I had to raise a lot of finances for this mission trip and I really didn’t know what to do, so I just prayed. I prayed a lot, I sent out some letters but mostly I just prayed. One night when I was sitting in my room I got a text message from Amy Drake (from the Bruce Gilley Memorial Foundation), she asked how much I owed for my mission trip, I told her the amount, and she said “Don’t worry, the Bruce Gilley Foundation has it covered!”
In that moment, I was really humbled, I was just really thankful and I was just completely affirmed that this mission trip was what I was supposed to do. I had not idea that I would fall in love with this country and decide to move here. But thankfully to the Bruce Gilley Foundation, I was able to take my mission trip and now I have a life here.
Opening Doors All Over the World
I just want to say “Thank You” to the Bruce Gilley Foundation, and everyone that helps with them, to everyone who has been praying for this foundation and working with them over the years. You guys are truly changing lives. You are really opening doors all over the world for youth to work for God.
