Understanding Jesus More
It has been a phenomenal week so far. Jesus thank you for the National Staff! I got to see so much of who Jesus is through the way they lived life. One person in particular that blew my mind was an 18 year old kid named David. David was one of the boldest guys I have ever met. He was such an inspiration to our team. He sees people that others don’t see or that others are afraid to talk to. David was a funny guy too! There were two experiences that helped me understand Jesus more.
getting out of my comfort zone
The first experience was during our program we did in the street. At the end of each program, we pray for the kids. However, in street ministry, there are also adults and families. We called out loud and said “If anyone needs prayer, raise your hand and come towards us.” I saw a homeless guy, who could barely walk, raise his hands. I immediately told myself “there’s no way I can pray for him.” It was an uncomfortable thing for me. I wend instead to pray for the kids because that’s my comfort zone. All my life, I’ve been afraid of being uncomfortable! Jesus wants us to get out of our comfort zones and experience life to the fullest. David saw the homeless guy and he walked towards him and started to talk to him and pray for him. After we finished praying for the kids, I looked up and could really see a new man David was talking to. The homeless guy started to jump and raise his hands. I was in awe. Later that night David shared with us that that homeless guy has been lost all of his life and watched our program and wanted to accept Jesus as his Savior! What an amazing story. David got to experience an amazing part of Jesus and I could have experienced the same thing, but I was afraid.
chips and drink and a kid on the street
The next day we went to the market. We would always offer to buy something for the National Staff. Today David asked for chips and a drink. However, it wasn’t for David… it was for a kid on the street. Later we found out that the kid has been crying for two days and not one talked to him. The kid said that his dad sends him out to beg for food often. After the kid ate, Patrick and David prayed for him and he accepted Jesus in his heart. Praise God for constantly saving lives!
These experiences have inspired me to be more bold and to trust God, especially when it is uncomfortable. I started to pray for that.
